Job Description:

Activity and Program Coordinator at the Mid-Bronx Senior Council, Inc., under funding from the NYC Department for the Aging (DFTA), will have a range of responsibilities and a skillset to enhance seniors' well-being and quality of life.

Professional Responsibilities:

Program Development:

Create and implement engaging and diverse activity programs that cater to Older
Adult's interests and needs.

Coordination:

Work with community members and organizations to provide volunteer opportunities
and other resources.

Communication:

Create a monthly activity calendar to regularly update seniors, staff, and families about
upcoming activities, health-related issues, trips, and events. Ensure that the activity
calendar has four (4) activities daily; assist the administrative assistant with uploading
monthly program units to DFTA promptly.

Budget Management:

Manage the activity budget and ensure resources are used effectively.

Record Keeping:

Maintain records of activities, inputting them into participants' files and addressing
feedback and activity program concerns of participating Older Adult members of the
Center.

Required Program Surveys:

Regular surveys should be conducted to gauge participants' interests and satisfaction
with the programs and activities, and activities and program services should be changed
when necessary.

Compliance:

Ensure all activities and programs comply with local (NYC/DFTA), state, and federal
regulations.

Logistics:

Oversee/manage the logistics for all OAC trips and outings, including transportation and
meal planning.

Support:

Provide emotional support to seniors and foster a positive, interactive, and inclusive
environment that supports the diverse community of older adults.

Volunteer Management:

Recruit, train, and supervise activity volunteers.

Safety:

Ensure the safety and well-being of all participants during activities.

Conduct fire drills, update and keep the first aid cabinet well stocked, and check the
AED Defibrillator weekly.


Qualifications:

Education:

A bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred.

Experience:

Experience in activity programming, preferably with Older Adults.

Skills Required:

Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills. Proficiency in
Microsoft Office and social media platforms.

Certifications:

CPR and AED certification are required.

Other:

Valid driver's license for necessary home visits and transportation of participants
(transporting only when required)

Efficiently managing time to balance various tasks and responsibilities.

Leadership Skills:

Leading and motivating volunteers and staff to ensure the smooth operation of
programs.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency in using Microsoft Office, social media platforms, and other relevant software
for planning and communication.
