Director, Software EngineeringDirector, Software Engineering- Risk TechnologyThe Risk Technology team at Capital One is tasked with building cutting-edge software to manage the most critical risks across the bank. There is a reason at Capital One we say "Risk Management is the business."As a Director of Software Engineering within Risk Technology, you'll be tasked with building new solutions that align with our mission of transforming risk management with technology. Our data pipelines are responsible for monitoring, managing, and transforming data across the entire bank, processing billions of records every day in real-time. Our internal tools are used by thousands of internal risk managers and investigators to detect, monitor, and resolve risks. And our models leverage machine learning to surface the most critical risks across the bank.You will:

• Lead, manage and empower multiple teams of Software, Data, and ML Engineers.

• Build systems that adhere to the highest engineering quality standards, applying your vision and expertise to set the bar on resiliency, scalability, efficiency, and performance.

• Partner with product managers and our business teams to design solutions that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of our risk management customers.
• Build systems that have an immediate impact on our business and on our customers.
• Ship early and often to production, bringing business value to our stakeholders quickly while failing fast and iterating when we miss the mark.Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • At least 7 years' experience in software development
  • At least 5 years' experience in people managementPreferred Qualifications:
    • 9+ years experience in Software Engineering or Data Engineering as an individual contributor.
    • Experience in building data applications that leverage distributed technologies (Spark, Flink, Hive) to execute workflows at scale.
    • 5+ years experience developing front end applications using modern frameworks (React, Angular).
    • Experience in operating applications using AWS, leveraging services such as Lambda, Fargate, RDS, and Kinesis, employing multi-AZ and multi-region practices to solve for resiliency.
    • Experience in developing personalized experiences, leveraging experimentation (A/B testing, multi-armed bandit) to optimize.Capital One will consider sponsoring a new qualified applicant for employment authorization for this position.The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed-upon number of hours to be regularly worked.McLean, VA: $263,900 - $301,200 for Director, Software EngineeringNew York, NY: $287,800 - $328,500 for Director, Software EngineeringRichmond, VA: $239,900 - $273,800 for Director, Software EngineeringCandidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate's offer letter.This role is also eligible to earn performance-based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long-term incentives (LTI).
